Beyond that, I have made great strides on my custom rhinos. It is a vast improvement over where they have been in, like, forever. Well, a couple years at least. This is the prototype, and it is almost ready to start casting the armor bits to add to my other four chassis. But that isn't all. I don't have a picture, but I have all of my Chosen largely base coated. Things are definitely moving forward, and I hope to have more progress pictures up soon.

Is that.... hobby progress?

Headless Heldrakeman

What does every headless horde need? A headless Heldrake rider of course. That's right folks, I now have(most of) a rider for my Heldrake #1. I still have a lot of work I want to do on him before I even think paint, but I am happy with how the rider has come out so far. I'm still torn on the bat winged helm on a flying dragon, but we shall see. Maybe I will order the sets for my ground troops, then do a test fit before I order the set to finish the Heldrake. It also kinda stinks that I have to get 10 more head and shoulders to finish two Heldrakes. The flip side is that I won't likely drop these bad boys in public any where beyond Hobby Town, until I hit a Con, which will likely increase in size when we stop running them. As I mentioned earlier in the week, I already have 100 points to spend, another 100 to 250 could definitely use 8+ more heads.
Stuff to ponder.

New and improved hunting rigs

Not a lot of hobby progress lately, I have been spending a lot of time building a treehouse for my kids. I did, however, manage to squeak in a little time for my Inquisimunda models. Ricard is of course painted and Lady Anastasia, The Duke, and the Doctor are all ready to be. Hopefully, I will pick up Diamyo YuQing tomorrow, but I haven't heard from the store if he is in or not. I won't be getting in any standard gaming this Saturday, but I plan to take my kids down for Hobby Night. D is painting up a Shadow Dragon and A is going to work on a Griffon, both from the Bones range.

Hobbit with a Ray Gun

I may actually be good at this. I have finished Ricard, excepting his base. I had just set out to paint him to a high tabletop level, but I think he came out more. I was originally thinking that I would just paint the guns in a ode to Eldar theme, but then my made up "Hobbit with a Raygun" song got stuck in my head, and it was shiny all the way. I hope to field him tomorrow, so I will let you all know how that goes, but right now I need to head to work, so outs.

Inquisimunda continues

A quick blip of my "finished" Inquisimunda models for Ricard's and The Duke's hunting rigs, plus The Doctor. Ricard went way easier than I had anticipated. He basically just fell into place, and I am happy where he landed. I kept the original head. It is another "not enclosed power armor" model for my crew, but I liked the dynamics of where and how he is looking. I am still hoping to get them on the table this weekend, and the remaining two models are ordered and should be on their way.

A gameless Saturday

The Duke
So, no games played this last Saturday, very sad day. However, Patrick and I did roll up the experience and skills of our Inquisimunda crews. Most of my rolls were contrary to the models particular role, i.e. I have a very combat centric crew, which is strange since their equipment is very shooting centric. Ah, the well. It should be fun. I did roll plenty of wounds and toughness, so I should be able to weather at least some incoming attacks, which is a fear, since my crew is so limited on equipment and replenishing numbers. Also, as you can see above, I have made progress on The Duke. I have found him a head and legs and begun sculpting. It is a slow process for me, since I tend to sculpt something, then put my finger in it while I sculpt something else. Thus, I am basically sculpting, let harden for a day, sculpt something else. Not the fastest process, but hopefully will lead to fewer mess ups.
I have also picked the models for the rest of my crew:
Lady Anastasia
Daimyo YuQing

Regent Ricard
As far as sculpting for the remainder of the crew, Ricard will definitely take the most, and may receive a head swap. Ko Dali to Lady Anastasia will require turning head tentacles into hair, but little else. The Daimyo may get a bit added for the mirror shield, but that is likely all he will have done. I am fairly excited about the whole shebang, and hopefully will take The Duke and Ricard down this Saturday and proxy the other two for a game of Inquisimunda. I also will need to get in my final game for the Infinity league, which will come first, of course.
Well, that is all on this front, catch you all later this week, when I, hopefully, have a further update for my Inquisimunda crew.

No, really, I do have hobby progress
As of late my posting of hobby progress has been a little on the light side. Most of that is due to spending a lot of time on boards for Malifaux. Pictures of which I hope to post soon, hopefully completed. However, it hasn't all been terrain. I have been working on The Duke for my Inquisimunda crew, even though I fear they may go down fast in a blaze of glory, or more likely a slow painful dwindling death. Currentlly he is a butchered chest, partially attached arms, a pack with a couple large guns, and some blue tack on a flying stand. When I manage to score some bits, I will get back to work and make in presentable. Another project I started in the last couple days was a proxy for Malifaux Killjoy. As I am not a huge fan of the model, but have been kinda liking him in game, I decided to try out the Bones from Reaper. The model I chose was a Ettin, which I removed the clubs and added a cleaver and hooked chain, in line with the Malifaux model and rules. The cleaver was from my Ogres, with some added notches for wear. The chain was partially from the warriors of chaos sprue and some actual chain used for jewelry. The size and shape is a bit different, but I think it will work when painted. I tried to make the chain look like he is ripping it back and getting ready to follow up with the cleaver, but I think the arm pose may be a little off. I am not sure how it will end up on the final piece, but I am going to go with it for now. I do plan to try and bring in some of the grotesquery of the original, but we shall see. My whole aversion to painting gross and all.
This model, Joss, Izamu, a Malifaux Child that is inbound, and a few Infinity models are on my docket for this weekends Iron Man Painting. Joss and Izamu take precedence seeing how they have been WIP for a while. An understatement for Izamu. But I do hope to get all of the Malifaux models finished. The Infinity stuff is just filler, and I do need to get them painted, since I made it required for my league. Either way, I'm off to get some more terrain done, maybe some plaques, maybe work on player packs, ...... maybe I have a little too much on my plate. ..... Nah.

OTT: The Night Lords of Sleep Hollow
Be warned for the Headless Horde approacheth. I am just two plasma guns short from finishing my Night Lords up until they get heads and shoulder pads. Both are to ordered from GW bits, so may be a bit. I hope to begin my bases soon and try to get that working. The Loveland Library has a 3D printer, which I may utilize for the rhinos. I plan to use Legion Sicaran Battle Tanks for the basis for my scratch built rhinos. I think they have a more menacing look than my standard rhino scratch builds, and we all know hoe I feel about the puny stock rhinos(or at least do now).
It hasn't been all 40K though. I have started in on my paint job for the Death Marshals. This guy is my test piece. I think he is turning out really well, and I hope the "shadow effect" I plan to add doesn't mess it all up.
Until next time...

OTT: The Silence Is Broken!
Kinda.
Work continues on my Tara crew, but nothing in the past week. I have been kinda adverse to painting them, just not in the mood and a little unsure on where to go with them. I think I have an idea and hope to get back onto them soon.
What I have been working on instead is my new Night Lords army. Yes, I am aware I have a problem. I blame Nabors, I'm pretty sure he set me up. Anyway, the chosen are coming along nicely, and as you can see from previous posts, I am enjoying them immensely. My favorite bit so far is the flamers.
I also have some ideas for the Heldrakes and Daemon Princes, using the Vampire Counts Terrorgheists and Valgheists, respectably. Its gonna be sick, but not cheap, so may take a while to get everything finished.
Until next time... something something awesome something.

Webway to Tacticon: Piercing the Veil
So, no TMI this week, as I am out of town at my Uncles. A little R&R means no games played. I guess you all are on your own for tactical genius this week. As a bit of a tide over, here is the world début of my new Farseer Warlord. He is a combination of Eldar Autarch, Fire Dragon Exarch, Shining Spear, Guardian, and a jetbike. I really enjoyed putting this one together, hope you all like him.
Hopefully, everyone will get to see him on the table when TMI returns.

Webway to Tacticon: More Hellions!
This is what has been on my paint table for the last week. I haven't been terribly productive, but I have been moving forward. As you can see, I have three more skyboards almost finished, and am almost finished with all my canopies. I am also making gains on the Hellions I had and the Baron.
I also have all my Hellions. These three are missing heads, as I am not using the Hellion heads, but rather the Reaver pony tail heads. So, until I get more of those, the riders themselves are in limbo. The boards you see here are the ones that are already painted in the previous picture. I managed to all but finish them on Friday. All they have left is gems and engine discoloration. I hope to have both done by the time this posts. This week I also hope to get the jetbikes painted and the canopies on. I won't get in any games next Saturday due to the warmahordes tourney and International Table Top Day. But, by the next time I play, I should have the actual bikes finished, and be well on the way for the riders.

I'M ALIVE!
With Goreswirl rolling, I have mostly beeen doing my thing over there, listing Bat Reps and such. It does mean that I am getting in WAY more games, with last weekend(Father's Day) being the first week in 6 I didn't game. Which I am not sure that counts, I should technically say that it is the first weekend I haven't 40ked, as I did get to play the new Death Watch RPG(technically also 40k, I am just a liar everywhere). I must say that come August I am buying this. It is an AWESOME game. Which means, that in July I am buying Warhammer Fantasy, August is Death Watch, and September is Tacticon. WEEEE!!!! Broke.
I am not sure about Tacticon, I pry should just go for the fun, which is all I ever really was going for anyway. I know I am not good enough to take any places, but it would be fun to know that I could. My Tzeentch army isn't strong enough, as it is seriously missing the pow needed to take out armour, specifically IG. Its does however have plenty of AP 3 weaponry for the Blood Angels and Space Wolves. I guess it all depends on the draw. Who knows I may just end up facing Nids and Crons, or Eldar, with who I have ZERO experience. But thn its all about facing new armies anyway. I would however like to NOT finish dead last, but then somebody has to. It might not even matter, as I still have a lot of work left to do on my Acolytes before they are ready, but I did manage to pick up a larger pack of green stuff, so I plan to really start diving in this weekend.
I did manage to pls a Slaanesh list this last Goreswirl(2 weekends ago) and would have won, too. But the problem was, I didn't enjoy the list. At the end of the game, I ended up pulling off the hill, just so I wouldn't have to play it again. Alternate objectives turned out to be fun(for me anyway) I don't know what everyone else thought, I was the only one to really complete mine, and I did that relatively early.
I hope to post pictures of my Daemon Prince son, as I have started painting him. I actually couldn't take it anymore, having an army with entirely no paint on it was driving me insane, so now I will have 1 guy, and can go back building robes, which is basically my Saturday, I think.
My Defilers may be scrapped, I am starting to not like what I did with them. The constant Tinker Toy comments don't help either.
Anywho, that should be enough rambling for now, catchya later.

HLP Khalida Part 2
I have gotten a dress for my HLP. I think she is turning out very well. I have surprised myself at every stage. I also got the bandages of one sleeve covered, and removed the belt buckle and scarabs crawling on her clothes. I still have the other sleeve, the mask, a new belt buckle, and a symbol for the staff.

High Liche Priestess Khalida
The Tomb Kings army has a grand total of 3 liche priest models. 2 come in 1 blister, the other comes with the casket of souls. I don't particularly like the casket, thus have made my own. The LP can be bought separately, but direct from GW only, so will cost me $22 with shipping. I don't fancy converting the other 2 LPs into my third LP, as those models aren't really all that stunning to begin with. Then I had an idea, while looking at my favorite model in the TK range, Khalida.

I love this model. Could I convert it into a priestess? Could I do it, and make it look like something besides Khalida?
The first thing I had to do was remove the crown. LPs don't have crowns, queens do. I also removed the snake from the top of the staff. Its a very Khalida mark, and I didn't want another asp LP, one of those comes in the blister.

Now came the first challenge: Green stuff the hair back on. Now, this won't be hair, but part of a head dress that will give the semblance of hair, the same as the 'hair' left on Khalida.

At the same time, I started putting more clothes on the model, this will cover the bandages of Khalida and give the model a LP look, losing the mummy look.

A word of warning, if you are going to do front modeling, right after modeling something on the opposite side, watch where you put your fingers. I actually had to do the hair twice, as I finished the shirt and saw that the back of the head was a bowl roughly the size of my finger.
I plan to make the model a priestess of the goddess of beauty. As such, I will be finishing the mask to cover the whole face. I also left the breasts so that the can be shown as a sort of bronze bra. The idea behind the bra, mask, and hair is to give the impression that, even though she has lived for hundreds of years, she is still showing radiant beauty, as a tribute to her goddess.
Next will likely be dress, and possibly sleeves. I am also using left over GS to fashion a lotus for the staff top(I think). The mask will have to wait till I get my jeweler's visor, the work will be just to minute(and hopefully, not beyond my skill).
