OTT: Done and Done

Vanessa is done. I really like how she turned out. I went with purple smoke. I'm not sure it works overall, as the model behind is mostly green and orange or some variant of, meaning plenty of yellow, and the final smoke is purple, leading to an almost over contrast.


On the other side of the table, I have my Tau Ion Hammerhead, ready for the table and looking sharp.

TMI: Dice A'thon

A very busy weekend. I played five games, across three systems, won a game of each, lost a game of two. Warhammer 40k, Warmachine, and Infinity to the gills. Still in Malifaux withdrawal, but read on for the others.

On the Table: Smokin'

Its amazing what gets done when you put the Tau away. Venessa is on the cusp of finished. I have all but her energy thingy and a soulstone in her hair. I decided to go with purple smoke for the "energy." I went this route for two reasons, firstly, I'm not a huge fan of the whole visible energy Wyrd is going with, and secondly, I didn't want to do OSL. OK, so the energy thing, while true, is mostly just a cover up for the OSL thing, but whatever. Anyway, I am planning to finish her after I get off work, but we will see how that pans out.

And, hopefully, when I finish her I will slow down on posts, this everyday thing is nuts. I mean, who reads this!

On the Table: It's Coming

My Hammerhead is coming along nicely. I am up to the black parts and then details. Looking good for finishing before the end of the month.

And don't worry, Vanessa is progressing as well. All I have left on her is her hair and staff. That cursed staff. I still am not sure what to do with the energy coming off.

On the Table: Switch Style

A bit of a change up from my last paint progress post. I have started in on a Tau Hammerhead, complete with Smart Missile System and Ion Cannon. This is my test for trying to get my Tau finally finished. It will also be my entry into the forum Play It Painted contest. Don't worry, Vanessa hasn't been forgotten, she is here too, but since I stupidly forgot to take a prepicture of her, I can't use her.


See, there she is. I'm not sure you can see the changes since my last post, they are all small, dark, and subtle, but rest assured she is coming along. I hope to have her finished by Saturday, but I think the energy on her staff is going to give me trouble.

TMI: TauMachine

Another great Saturday of gaming. Sadly, no Malifaux to be had. I also failed to get pictures of my Warmachine game against Ed.

Here is my current project, Vanessa, for my Viktorias crew. She is turning out to be a load of fun, and I am really enjoying her.

On the Table

I have been posting my Webway to Tacticon posts for a little while, chronicling my Eldar/Dark Eldar progress. Now that that army is mostly complete, I feel that I want to continue to post my more general paint progress. These articles, I hope, will be a more frequent look at what I am working on at the moment. As you can see above, I just finished two of my necropunks for Malifaux. I also have Vanessa and Izamu on my paint table. Izamu has been giving me trouble, as he is my next over the top paint project, so I have been a little nervous to start him. Vanessa has been assembled, but she is waiting on primer, since the weather here has been a bit chilly. The weather has also affected my work, thus my sleep, thus my motivation to get things going, so my progress this week is a bit light. Next week, I hope to get back into the swing of things, and plan to have more to post.
So, I hope to have more up soon, with less talk about the table, and more about whats on it. Until then, good painting.

TMI: Double Down

A pretty quick week game wise. I only played a game of 40K and an intro Malifaux game. I forgot to take pictures of the 40K game, but I was playing Tau, anyway. I also forgot to pull out all of my Eldar and take a picture of that. The Demo game was against Dave, using his Viks plus a Ronin versus my Seamus box.

Webway to Tacticon: Mission Completion!

Having broken the spell of the Tau, I managed to get back to work and finish off all I had that I can currently finish.

This leaves me with the Baron and the three headless Hellions. I am, however, contemplating redoing my force icon. The black dagger just doesn't show. I also think I need to come up with some unit markings. These will likely be "ghost" symbols on the bikes' "wings." By ghost, I mean markings that are barely off of the color of the wings now, making them almost unseeable from a distance, but a cool effect up close.
Tomorrow, I plan to put these bad boys on the table.

Webway to Tacticon: Curse the Greater Good

Forgive me dear reader, for I am weak. The Tau have arrived and they have slowed my progress this week. But today I managed to bring it back to focus. As you can see above, the guardians are ready. Tomorrow I will varnish them, 'ardcoat the gems, and do final assembly. You will also notice the Reaver riders in the back ground. They just need their metalics done, then they too will be joining their rides. After that, I just have to finish the Baron and the headless Hellions, and then its a waiting game to see if the codex drops.

Webway to Tacticon: The riders are coming!

On the table this week: the last of my jet bike riders. Both the Guardians and the Reavers, even though they don't need finished for Tacticon. I'm even painting a gunner from a Viper for no apparent reason. The plan is to have them all finished and on their bike by this weekend. That will leave the finish on the Baron, the Razorwings missiles(which may get done also), and the three headless Hellions. Not bad with 143 days left to go.

There is a speed bump though, the Tau are out. A new codex means a new distraction. Hopefully one I can over come. Though, I am already making plans to start in on my over abundance of unfinished Tau, after the Eldar are finished.

Webway to Tacticon: Piercing the Veil

So, no TMI this week, as I am out of town at my Uncles. A little R&R means no games played. I guess you all are on your own for tactical genius this week. As a bit of a tide over, here is the world début of my new Farseer Warlord. He is a combination of Eldar Autarch, Fire Dragon Exarch, Shining Spear, Guardian, and a jetbike. I really enjoyed putting this one together, hope you all like him.




Hopefully, everyone will get to see him on the table when TMI returns.

Webway to Tacticon: Riding High

Just put the finishing touches on my jetbike chassis, including my reavers. This means they are all but finished. I have to add the sigil to the banners of my Warlord Farseer, but other than that they are all done. Tomorrow I will begin work on the riders. Once they are finished I can varnish and do final assembly and all will be done, except three Hellions waiting on heads and the Baron waiting on his sigil.

Of course, all of this is for the current book. I am thinking I may need to pick up a few more bike to make ready for a likely new Eldar book. It makes me nervous, but what choice do I have?

TMI: Malifaux and a wooden spoon

Another week, a few more games in. This time was International Tabletop Day, though I didn't get in any board or card games. I did play a few wargames, though. I played Malifaux and then followed that up with a Warmahordes tournament.
