Say what?!? Yep, it is true, I am starting to get back into Warhammer Fantasy. I will pause while you recover.... Good? OK, here we go. So, I have been looking at Ogres for a long time, but my previous group already had an Ogre player and I had gone with Tomb Kings. Well, with my TK losing its flavor and thus my enjoyment, I was looking at them again, off and on. With High Elves and Lizardmen magic being "nerfed"(I am assured it is so) I was looking at them again. When I was asked for Christmas ideas, I seized my chance. The result? A box of Ogres. A modest start, but a start none the less. So I proxied a 800 point list and got a couple games in against Troy on Friday. Of course, I couldn't go a whole weekend with out a game of Malifaux, so I threw down against Troy on Saturday on the Pumping Station board. But, first up, Fantasy.

Its beginning to look a lot like Fantasy

Army Amnesty Day
The day after Christmas, I headed on down to Longmont. Hobby Quest was putting on their annual Army Amnesty day, and with the kids off to their uncle's wedding, I wanted in. I managed to get in a couple games against David, the guy I played against last time. Troy also made it down and was able to wreck David's day.

A scuffle in the middle
I was super late to the party on Saturday, not making it in until 5:30, but I still managed to snag a game versus Troy's Zoraida crew, before diving into Dark Heresy.

It can not be!
But it is! I have indeed put paint to brush on Izamu. Not much, I just painted his leg covers and back banner flags. I am still not sure how I am going to do the armor, but I am leaning towards a purple lacquer to tie the red and blue together. We shall see.
Also, for any who care, I have decided to remove the post type tag at the front of the title. The acronyms seem like they would be archaic for anyone who hasn't read the post however so long ago. So, they are gone. It still should be easy to tell though. Is my mess of a paint station in the background, or is it a table top.
Well, its off to Christmas shop, I may return to painting Izamu today... Or Joss. I guess only time, and another post, will tell.

OTT: Joss doin' sum paintin'
OK, that was terrible, but look Joss. I had almost written him off, planning to cancel my order, since he was continually out of stock, and the Large Arachnid can give me the double scrap for less. Then he showed up, and I try not to be "eh, nevermind" when my long orders come in, so I grabbed him. I have only been working on him a little bit, but I think he is coming along nicely. Izamu is still giving me the eye, but I may be working on him soon. Not necessarily finishing, but I think I have a plan for my next step.
Well, back to painting. Hopefully Joss will be done this weekend.

TMI: Double Dip
Work forgot to schedule me this week, or some system error, or whatever, the result? I was "given" the weekend off. Not good for the wallet, but did allow me to get in two full days of gaming. Three games plus Deathwatch/Dark Heresy, a pretty good haul for a weekend. How did the games go? Read on to find out.

OTT: Marut for table 1
I managed to get her finished up today. I am still not about the base, but it works better than I had originally thought, so it may stay. At least until I get a better suggestion. Her sword is the pink glazed over Charadon Granite, it came out a strange purple/rust color(depending on light). I know the shot above doesn't show it well, poor back drop. What? Never said I was a professional, and nobody has ever accused me of it either.
If anyone is interested, I will have her tomorrow at Hobby Town, and may even play a game of Infinity. Hope to catch you there.
OTT: To Infinity and beyond... again
I am finally closing in on finishing my Infinity Marut. As many of you may know, I have fallen in and out of Infinity since I picked it up. This Marut has been in a state of limbo for a while now, and his Dakini and Garuda still languish there. But, with the completion of the Marut, maybe they will soon follow.
Currently, I only have the sword to finish and the base. I have no idea how to do the base. You can see in the picture where I contemplated a circuit board base, but I'm not sure that works. Please, if anyone has any ideas, leave them in the comments.
Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi, you are my only hope.

TMI: Leveticus goes elite
I managed to squeeze in a game of Malifaux against Troy in on Saturday. I ran the newest Leveticus against his Zoraida crew. I went with what was then Pariah of Iron, it has since changed to Pariah of Ash. He went with a heavily minion crew. More on that after the break.

TMI: Quadro-faux?
I managed to get in four games over the weekend, two on Friday versus Troy and two on Saturday versus the new Michael and Shaffer. I think I only managed to really come out on top in one game. More on that to come.

OTT: Necro Godfather Punk
Yes, I am weak. And Izamu still looks on angrily from the background. BUT, with the advent of the new Leveticus, I wanted to finally finish my last Necropunk. So, instead of the top hat I have been planning to get, I went with one of the hats from the new plastic Death Marshal box. I think it turned out really well, and with the Perdita style hat tilt and the right hand position, I get a strong "I'll make you an offer you can't refuse" vibe from this one. Hence, the Necro Godfather Punk was born.
On a sadder note, there won't be another TMI this week, since Pathfinder went long on Saturday, then everybody wussed. Sad day.
Well, nothing personal, back to to the brush, its strictly business, you see.

TMI: The Headless Horde Rides Again!
A little early this week, but I hope to have another TMI to post after tomorrow as well. This is a special Friday edition, where I had a day off, the kids were gone, so I was looking for a game. I wanted Malifaux, but beggars and all that.
Tuesday, November 19, 2013
TMI: Newb stomping
With my new job, I am getting down to the store much later, which means fewer games. I still managed to get in a single game of Malifaux, since everyone ditched out, but I also played some Pathfinder Society.

TMI: The new new Leveticus
I managed to squeeze in a game of Malifaux this last Saturday. It was with the newest(as of writing, that changes tonight) version of Leveticus. It wasn't very exciting game, but read on if you care.

OTT: Gone before the thunder
Like lightning, I took a WIP picture this afternoon, but before I got it posted, all of my EBO minis are done. So skip to the end, and there you have it.
Next project: Izamu.... Or maybe something else.

OTT:EBO
After Dorothy, I decided to start an easier project, and so I have picked up my Evil Baby Orphanage Kickstarter models. First up was Erik the Red. As you can see he is all but finished after maybe 45 minutes of work. A big difference from Dorothy. I am saving the flesh until I am ready to do all three, then I will do his leathers. Next up is Lizzie Borden. As these are fairly quick, you can expect a post or two still to come this week.
On a side note, I have grabbed everything to make my own textured mats. Hopefully they go well, and I will post a step by step of the second one(hopefully with fewer mistakes). But first I have to make my texture stamp, so that may be a sec in coming.
Psycho babies, voting day, coincidence? You decide.

TMI: The Elite Take Down the Elite
Week two of the Malifaux league has come and gone, and it is still going strong. Read on to see what I did this last Saturday.

OTT: Steampunk Dorothy Returns!
I started back into Dorothy with a vengeance, and she is nearly complete. I only have a few details to paint(flowers and feathers mainly) and she will be complete. Then I will have to figure out a way to match my Viks cobblestone, but still give it a bit of yellow brick road feel. I also think I may need to lighten the front of the jacket a bit. The dress seems fine, but the lighter gun and even darker dress in front is kinda drowning the purple out. The back seems fine, but I will probably lighten that as well. Either way, I am waiting until the flowers are done to see which way they push the whole ensemble.
And some Steampunk Crimsonwraith, as promised, if anyone is interested.

TMI: Some table topping
The league started on Saturday. I managed to get a game in versus Patrick's Nicodem crew. I used Tara, just because she rocks so hard. We had Stake a Claim and I took revealed Line in the Sand and Power Ritual, he took hidden Line in the Sand and Power Ritual. I took a fairly heavy beating this game, losing most of my models. I had a Marshal, Nothing, 2 Voids, Karina, and Bishop. He took Izamu, couple Canines, Sebastian, and Mortimer. He summoned a Construct, but that's basically it. I put Tara to far forward, leaving her in Izamu's charge range(should have brought the hodgepodge), and I sacrificed the Death Marshal to both slow him down and drop a scheme upon death. It worked, and I could have recovered, however, I had decided to charge Izamu to bury him, but failed and got Red Joker Riposted and dead. Ouch. I then moved in the Nothing Beast, who is basically always sacrificial, but was supposed to be up forward much earlier, but I screwed up. As such, he came up late, tied Izamu up a sec, then pasted. I brought Bishop in, though I think I should have used him to head for the back field scheming. He did a fair job whacking on Izamu, but eventually, he died as well. I had a final Void Wretch who moved into Patrick's Zone and dropped a Claim, tying Patrick, keeping it at no points, after I got one on turn two, until turn five when he was able to drop a third, netting one point from him. The wretch moved back towards the center line, dropping a scheme for Line in the Sand, giving me a point for being revealed. We both managed to get two points for Power Ritual, having got our own two corners. With him getting a point on five, and me a point on two, Stake a Claim was a draw. He wasn't able to get that fourth marker along the center line, which meant he scored nothing to my one for Line. A close game, 4-3 to me.
The league started off about where I thought it would, with five players, plus myself. I had thought one or two of the other guys may have come out of the woodwork, but wasn't surprised when they didn't.
There is still space if anybody reading this would like to join, the more the merrier. It isn't a wins league, so you don't need to worry about beating Troy, just come get some games in, and I guarantee you will earn points.

TMI: The Return of Leveticus
In a triumphant show of will power, I managed to get in a few games with Leveticus. I got some things wrong and some things right.

OTT: Got a problem with steam, punk?
What the hooey? Where is Dorothy? Well, Dorothy took a back seat this week, as my sister is having a costume party on Saturday and I had five days notice. So, since Sunday, I have been working feverishly on a steampunk out fit. Above is the gun, I will post my full get up later in the week, likely Friday or Saturday. And then I will get back to Dorothy.

OTT: Sheer Insanity
My first attempt at sheer stockings, and I think it turned out fairly well. She also has green eyes, another first for me(colored, not just green). And to top off the crazy train, she has a very small spade on her right chest. Turning into loads of fun, and maybe a little OCD, but I'm into it, so...

TMI: Back to the table
Its been a while, but I finally got in some games. How funny that is, not long ago, I was lucky to play a game every six months, now a couple of weeks is brutal torture. Hell, sometimes I have issues going from Saturday to Saturday. I need my fix, man!

OTT: Obliteration Completion!
I finished my Tara crew late Friday night and even got a couple games in with her on Saturday. More on that later. I am fairly happy with how they all turned out.
I also started on my Hans stand in, Steampunk Dorothy. She looks way better in person, honest. This figure may have too much detail. Seriously, there is crap to paint everywhere. So, of course, I added a spade on her breast.

OTT: Two Thirds Obliterated
My Obliteration crew is coming along nicely(finally). I have six of the nine models finished.
Two more screaming towards completion
And one that is likely to give me fits deciding what to do with her. Likely, I will have to do what I generally do, start on the parts I'm sure of and watch the rest fall in line.

OTT: When Death Marshal come knocking
Finished my test Death Marshal. I like it. Shaffer had suggested going with a super dark grey scale on everything but the flames. It kinda hit where I thought about going. These guys are shadows of memories Karina totes around, so I wanted to make them shadowy, except for the scarey fire heads she remembers. While the dark black with fire would have worked, and I am contemplating doing one this way, I instead painted them really dark. Everything is basically charadon granite and the base color, highlighted up by adding the base color, so it never really even makes it up to the base. And after that I glazed everything not on fire with GW night shade. I think it has the super dark, shadow of a memory effect I was going for, especially next to the rest of the crew.
Speaking of the rest of the crew, instead of finishing the other two Death Marshals, I started in on Karina. Started in is probably the wrong word, since her dress and flesh were mostly done. I'm liking how she turned out, not my best work, but she is coming nicely. I still need to dirty her up and do the base rim, but that's for another day.
Well, off to see some hot air... And I'm not even headed to Hobby Town this weekend.

OTT: The Night Lords of Sleep Hollow
Be warned for the Headless Horde approacheth. I am just two plasma guns short from finishing my Night Lords up until they get heads and shoulder pads. Both are to ordered from GW bits, so may be a bit. I hope to begin my bases soon and try to get that working. The Loveland Library has a 3D printer, which I may utilize for the rhinos. I plan to use Legion Sicaran Battle Tanks for the basis for my scratch built rhinos. I think they have a more menacing look than my standard rhino scratch builds, and we all know hoe I feel about the puny stock rhinos(or at least do now).
It hasn't been all 40K though. I have started in on my paint job for the Death Marshals. This guy is my test piece. I think he is turning out really well, and I hope the "shadow effect" I plan to add doesn't mess it all up.
Until next time...

OTT: The Silence Is Broken!
Kinda.
Work continues on my Tara crew, but nothing in the past week. I have been kinda adverse to painting them, just not in the mood and a little unsure on where to go with them. I think I have an idea and hope to get back onto them soon.
What I have been working on instead is my new Night Lords army. Yes, I am aware I have a problem. I blame Nabors, I'm pretty sure he set me up. Anyway, the chosen are coming along nicely, and as you can see from previous posts, I am enjoying them immensely. My favorite bit so far is the flamers.
I also have some ideas for the Heldrakes and Daemon Princes, using the Vampire Counts Terrorgheists and Valgheists, respectably. Its gonna be sick, but not cheap, so may take a while to get everything finished.
Until next time... something something awesome something.

TMI: In the Tumult of Chaos
No late night gaming, though of course, the one time I didn't bring my X-Wing stuff, Paul is up for a game. What I did play, though, was Malifaux and 40K. I'll wait while you recover from the shock.

TMI: The Chosen One
This last weekend I finally had a go with my Chosen list, with a couple Heldrakes to test Nabors's new Space Marines, and I liked it. I also managed to squeeze in a game of Malifaux 2nd Edition versus Shaffer's Rasputina crew.
Sunday, September 8, 2013
TMI: Bolt Action Malifaux
I managed to score a couple games this last Saturday, one of Malifaux, the other, a new face, Bolt Action.

OTT: Obliteration
While I was at Tacticon I received my newest addition to my Malifaux stuff, Tara, Herald of Obliteration. I have some gap filling to do, and hope to have the crew primed and at least ready to paint by this weekend. I also picked up some Guild Marshals to go with her. After avoiding the cursed red border for so long, who would have thought my first foray into Guild would be the most iconic of their minions?

Webway from Tacticon: Epic Fail
Okay, epic fail may be a bit harsh. Last weekend, we all headed down to Tacticon for some hard fought battles for supremacy. I felt super good about my Eldar/Dark Eldar force, thought I would do decent with my X-Wing list, and was worried about my 1 preregistration Malifaux tournament. So, how did it all go down? Guess you will just have to read on...

Webway to Tacticon: I used to be awesome.
Oh, wait, I still am. Too much? Well, my combined Eldar army and its display board are awesome. All I have left is to finish the frame, which I will next week, while I do the plaques, and its off to the races on Friday. It has been a long road, but the end is in sight, and I am super stoked.

TMI: Tournament Turn-a-round
I played in the second Tacticon PreCon Tournament on Saturday, as well as a few games of X-Wing in the after math.

TMI: In a galaxy far far away...
There is only war. Wait, that doesn't seem quite right. Hmmm.... anyway. As it was Iron Man weekend, I didn't get in many games, but they were all X-Wing. Sad is the Malifaux 2 Tara, but she will keep.

TMI: Ah, the rough life of a TO
I ran a tournament on Saturday, but thats all over at the KoGT site, head there to check that out. I did manage to get in a game as a ringer against Nabors. He was talking mad shit about our last game, and so this was a bit of a grudge match. We started slow, since I was on guard duty over lunch and wanted something before we started. Even behind the clock(TJ still take FOREVER), we were able to finish our game. It went pretty brutal for him, with my council rocking Protect, Fortune, and Conceal. I also hit all the right targets in the right order. In the end, I sadly lost one of my flyers versus most of his army. I rocked a win, and his smack talk fizzled. A great game, though I think I should have had one of the other guys ringer so I could run the tournament, I felt I dropped the ball that round.
I also picked up a new game, X-Wing. I had been eyeing this one for a bit, and finally decided to snag it. I really enjoyed it. It is fun and super quick. I rocked 4 or 5 games in the evening, and headed out early. I plan on grabbing an Tie Interceptor and Advance and possibly another Tie Fighter. I want to play in the tournament for Tacticon, but that will depend on ship availability. As for the Rebel side of things(being evil at heart), I'm not sure. I am hoping I can convince somebody else to pick some of those up, but will see. HT has an A-Wing and a Y-Wing, which I may snag to balance the other side, but right now, I would rather just save my money and wait on those. I have also since made my own mat, and am started on a second. I would like to eventually sell them, but time will tell. More on X-Wing later.

TMI: Steampunk Ewok Village
Managed to get in a couple games and unveil my Pumping Station Board. I almost wussed out for the second game, being as I got zero sleep the night before, but I'm glad I stuck around. The title? Well, the inspiration for the board started with the Ewok village, then I steampunked it.

TMI: Tourney Prep
Managed to get three full games of Warhammer 40K in this last Saturday. Two of which where timed tournament missions, both of which finished a turn five. A roughing out of point for what a tournament game for round three would have been, and I fell just short of my 30 point goal.

TMI-pocalypse
This last weekends gaming was just one game, but it was anything but short. IT WAS APOCALYPTIC!

TMI: It's all a little foggy
Played a couple games over last weekend, but have been to busy to post. Now they are a bit hazy, but I will try and relay what I remember. Wow, talk about excitement.

TMI: Beaten by the Tabled
OH, NO! I got tabled with the new Eldar! Wait, no I didn't. But I didn't win either. So... How does that work?
